An Honest Review:

Ka Papa... wow... what an amazing experience. Ka Papa is perfect for a date night, a special occasion, or a night out to treat yourself. The food is absolutely 10/10. We sat outside in the breezeway- it was phenomenally romantic and full of gorgeous, healthy plants and an ambiance of the tropics. It was so modern and beautiful- I just loved every moment of our dinner. The effort, in the environment and the food, is extremely well thought out. This place has A LOT of potential. It is a bit on the pricey side, but you can taste where that money is going. All of the ingredients in every dish we tried were fresh and delicious, and the experience was well worth the cost.

We started off with two drinks- a Pina Colada Mocktail and a sour beer flavored with dragon fruit and watermelon. Next, we had some appetizers- their very popular Shiitake 'Escargots', Grilled 'Caesar' Salad, and two crocks of their French Onion Soup. Everything was off the charts delicious, realistic, and impressive. By far, the most interesting and tasty dish was the Shiitake Escargot- we were considering skipping this one, but I am so happy we did not! We ordered some fresh ciabatta bread with our vegan escargot to soak up the wine/oil/garlic sauce that came with the shiitakes... just mmmmmm! For dinner, we split their House-Made Pasta with Walnut Pesto- adding the smoked portobello mushrooms to our order. I have never had smoked mushrooms, so getting used to that intense flavor took a moment, but then I really enjoyed them with the pasta. The pesto pasta itself was perfect- of course (Ka Papa did not disappoint).

For desert, we had the Cake of the Night to go. We tried a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, and raspberry sauce with a big side of vegan cream. Needless to say, this cake did not last long- it was a slice of heaven.

Ka Papa excels in the art of fine vegan cooking. I am already looking forward to my return for the next time I am in the Sarasota/Longboat Key area. On top of their excellent food, their environment and attention to detail in their interior and exterior design is top notch. I loved the touch of plant life everywhere I went in the restaurant. The final photo posted above in the photo gallery is my favorite extra detail of this place- their little hand salt dish, to soothe your skin after you wash your hands with soap. Such a small, elegant, and friendly gesture.

Overall, this place BLEW me away. I am already planning my next road trip to Florida- this place is a must try.
